GlusterFS is a highly flexible distributed filesystem that can store many petabytes of data and scale out with linear performance growth. This talk will focus on how to utilize GlusterFS as a general purpose storage system for multiple cloud and big data workloads. We will explore:
  • Why filesystems. There is lots of talk about object storage, but files are what most admins still need to store
  • Why GlusterFS. There are a number of open source solutions for storage, but GlusterFS is the only one that supports file, block and object storage in the same namespace
  • When to use GlusterFS vs. other storage software, such as Ceph
This talk will also feature a demo of the write once, read everywhere philosophy embodied by GlusterFS.
